The Judy Hanks Memorial Scholarship in Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering

The Judy Hanks Memorial Scholarship in Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering was created in 2012 and was established by Village Plastics Co.

Judy Hanks devoted more than 20 years of her life to the plastics industry. She started her career in plastic welding rod sales under the direction of Robert L. Miller in 1988. In 2005, Judy joined Village Plastics Co. in the position of sales manager and was instrumental in the growth and success of Village Plastics until her retirement in June 2010. She was a lifelong resident of the Norton and Barberton, Ohio areas.

The Judy Hanks Memorial Scholarship in Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering shall be awarded to a deserving student who has been a resident of the Greater Akron area for at least five years, demonstrates financial need, and is studying in the Department of Polymer Science or Polymer Engineering. The final selection is to be made by the chair of the department in conjunction with The University of Akron’s office of financial aid.
